Delta Correctional Center Overview

Delta Correctional Center is operated by the Colorado Department of Corrections. It is a minimum-security state prison for sentenced adult male prisoners in Colorado DOC custody. It is physically located in Delta County, but it is not run by the Delta County Sheriff's Office and it does not book people after local street arrests.

A person arrested in Delta County may start at the Delta County Detention Facility, appear in county court, and later move into CDOC custody only after conviction, sentencing, admission, and classification. Delta Correctional Center may house people from any Colorado county if CDOC assigns them there. It should not be used as proof that a prisoner's conviction came from Delta County.

Delta Correctional Center Capacity

The Colorado Office of the State Auditor's June 2025 Department of Corrections facilities performance audit is the dated source for facility-level capacity and population. That audit listed Delta Correctional Center at a capacity of 477 and a population of 416, which is 87 percent occupancy. Those figures describe the state prison facility, not the Delta County jail population and not a live count from the CDOC locator.

CDOC assignment can change. A prisoner may move to or from Delta Correctional Center because of classification, program needs, bed space, medical reasons, discipline, safety concerns, parole preparation, or release planning. Confirm the current facility through CDOC before visiting, mailing, or sending money.

Delta Correctional Center Inmate Lookup

CDOC's form allows searches by DOCNO, last name, first name, and gender. A captcha may appear, and the research could not inspect a full profile because direct profile access returned a captcha warning.

3. Use last name, first name, and gender when DOCNO is not known.

CDOC Delta Inmate Search Fields

The CDOC form uses structured search fields. At least one search value is required, and the research notes show validation for DOCNO and name fields. If a user has only an arrest date or bond question, the state prison locator is the wrong first stop. Use the jail, court, and records channels for recent local cases.

Delta Correctional Center Visiting

Prison visiting is different from county jail visiting. CDOC visiting generally requires approval, facility scheduling, valid identification, compliance with dress and conduct rules, and current facility instructions. Start with the CDOC visiting page, then confirm the person's current facility assignment through CDOC before making travel plans.

Delta Correctional Center Mail and Money

Delta Correctional Center Classification

Delta Correctional Center is a minimum-security state prison. Minimum security does not mean open public access. It means CDOC has assigned prisoners there under state prison classification rules. Classification can consider sentence, behavior, security needs, program needs, medical issues, release planning, bed availability, and other corrections factors.

The local arrest-to-prison path has several stages. A person is arrested, booked or cited, appears in court, faces prosecution, is convicted if the case ends that way, is sentenced to DOC if prison is ordered, and then enters state custody for admission and classification. Only after CDOC assignment would Delta Correctional Center become the relevant facility. For county booking and bond questions, use Delta County Detention Facility instead.

Delta Prison or County Jail

Delta Correctional Center and Delta County Detention Facility are both in Delta County, but they serve different populations. The prison houses sentenced adult male state prisoners. The jail handles local booking, bond, first appearance custody, local holds, court transport, transfer, and short county sentences. Mixing the two can lead to wrong calls, wrong mail, rejected funds, and missed visiting rules.

A person can pass from the county jail to CDOC after sentencing, but the county jail no longer controls the person's prison mail, money, visits, or release calculation once DOC custody begins.

Delta Correctional Center Records

CDOC records and county jail records are separate. The CDOC locator covers sentenced state custody, while the Delta County jail and court channels cover new arrests and local criminal cases. CDOC profiles may show offender identity, DOC number, facility assignment, custody status, sentence or offense information, and release information where displayed, but exact profile fields were not confirmed because the inspected profile path required captcha.

Colorado corrections custody is governed by state corrections law and CDOC procedure. County jail records are governed through sheriff channels and criminal-justice records review. If the question is current prison location, start with CDOC. If the question is the original Delta County arrest, booking photo, bond, or court filing, use the sheriff records process and Colorado Judicial Branch dockets instead. Delta Correctional Center Programs

As a CDOC prison, Delta Correctional Center follows statewide prison rules for programming, work assignments, grievances, medical care, mail, money, and release planning. The research file did not include a complete facility-specific program inventory, so program names should be confirmed through CDOC rather than assumed. Minimum-security placement can support work and reentry-oriented programming, but only CDOC can confirm a prisoner's eligibility and current options.
